Cockpit/Seat

Command Seat

With the exception of direct access, all functions are controlled from the Command Seat. Although technically a cockpit, the Core of the AR is essentially a 140 cubic feet cylinder. It is designed to allow the seat to rotate within the wraparound cabin and seat mounted controls are always within the operator’s reach. As the AR is an autonomous rover first, the cockpit is not dedicated to a forward facing pilot. The operator is more of a copilot, rather than the primary driver.

The seat’s cocoon-like bolstering around the operator is active, to compensate for g-forces from any direction at any time as the operator could be potentially facing any direction while the autonomous vehicle is in motion. Its shape is its primary restraint system. However, there are a few other active and passive restraint systems.
